Your first hour

Nobody's first day here starts with a workout.

Every person who joins CrossFit Almaden walks the same four steps first. It takes about an hour, and you'll know by the end of it whether this is your gym.

A look around the room

You get a tour of the facility before anything else. It's one floor, a rig, a rack of bumper plates and a lifting platform. There's no maze of machines and no upsell desk on the way in.

02

We sit down and you ask the awkward ones

Do I have to be in shape to join. What results can I expect. How often should I come. Which plan fits me. We'd rather answer those sitting down than have you guess from a website.

You take a real class, scaled

Not a watered-down taster. The same class the members are doing, with the weight, the intensity and the mechanics adjusted to where you actually are today.

Then you decide, not us

You'll have trained in the room, met the coach and stood next to the members. That's a better basis for a decision than any brochure, and there's no pressure at the end of it.

In their words

The word that keeps coming up is community, not fitness.

These are verified Google reviews, every one of them five stars.

CrossFit Almaden has been an amazing experience for me. This is my first time doing CrossFit, and I’ve been going for about 8 months now—I’m absolutely loving it. The community is incredibly welcoming and supportive, and everyone there makes you feel comfortable no matter your experience level. I especially love the coaches here.

We dropped in to CrossFit Almaden while in town for the CrossFit Games and we had such a great time! Sarah was our coach and she was super friendly and knowledgeable. When we came back the next day she remembered our names! The members were friendly and welcoming. Great workouts. Definitely going to drop in again when I'm in town. Thanks Almaden!

My husband and I have been training here for almost two years, and as long-time CrossFitters, we couldn’t be happier here. The programming is top-notch, consistently pushing me out of my comfort zone to reach my personal best and there are a variety of class times and options that are very helpful for working parents. Beyond the workouts, the community is what truly sets this place apart.

Before you come in

The questions people actually ask us.

No. Whatever your current fitness level is, there is a program here that fits it. Every workout is designed to be scaled, which means the weight, the intensity and the mechanics get adjusted to you. The programming is built for universal scalability, so it works for any committed person regardless of experience.

Fill in the contact form with your details and we will get in touch to schedule it. On the day you get a quick tour of the facility, then we sit down and answer any questions about who we are and how we train. Expect to spend about an hour with us.

One of our coaches greets you, shows you around, and you jump into a class. Nothing is a prerequisite. Seasoned athletes and people who have never set foot in a gym both start right here.

Results take time, but if you are consistent they come. If you are a beginner they arrive fairly quickly. Even in 30 days you may start to see a difference in your strength and overall fitness.

If you are a beginner we recommend starting with 2 to 4 classes a week, working up to 5 a week after your first few months. It takes a while for your body to get used to training at that intensity, so listen to it and take the recovery time between training days.

Class programming includes a strength portion, which might be Olympic weightlifting, deadlifting, squatting, bodyweight strength, or a skill like handstand push-ups. After that most days involve a workout programmed for that specific day. Workouts run anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes or more.

Yes. Classes are organised into small groups, which is what lets you actually meet the people training next to you.

We are a community of people on the same fitness journey you are on. Everyone here has had their Day One. If you win, we all win.

No. A healthy lifestyle has to be manageable and realistic for the long term, so enjoy special indulgences and meals. By avoiding excessive refined carbohydrates and measuring your intake of protein, carbohydrates and fat, you will see dramatic, measurable increases in health.
